ICT Rural Workshop...17th May 2010

The Computer Society of Sri Lanka, in the customary manner organized the ICT Rural Workshop, in this Wesak month of May, where the saying goes ‘Giving is Noble’ , Giving albeit in a different form ; in enriching knowledge in the Basics of IT, and bringing a smile back to the students of Halkandawila School. A search on Google Maps, showed Halkdandawila a hamlet situated inland, between Katukurunda and Maggona. This CSSL programme complements well with the Sri Lanka governments efforts in ruralization of IT in bridging the digital divide, by programmes such as Vishva Grama Kendra etc.

The sessions were carried out by Thushara, Chrishantha and Pathi, Members of CSSL, using their professional acumen. It was very delighted to see the great enthusiasm shown by these students who may have seen a computer for the time in their life. A bus equipped with IT and generator power, sponsored by E-Soft Training (special effort of Dayan) provided the necessary hardware to enable the students to use the PC. The smiles on the childrens face showed the satisfaction and the confidence they obtained in this one day ICT workshop. As it is the passion to serve voluntarily through CSSL, it was felt that the return for the effort put, as echoed in the thanks giving address given by Halkandawila school. They were expressing their deep gratitude for giving awareness on ICT and promised that they will get the maximum benefit out of this programme.

Well it seems Kudos for Computer Society of Sri Lanka!!!.
